Description:
Acting as Project Manager, design a small app that will extract as much content as possible from three apparel e-commerce sites to be output as CSV. ● The platform is Java
● Collect all relevant product attribute information from the sites and output into a single CSV.
● Sites to mine:
http://www.romanoriginals.co.uk/
http://www.thomaspink.com/ (change to GBP in upper right hand side)

● Description
● Current Price
● Retail Price
● URL
● Category

Since you have a notable technical background, you get straight answers and solid work out of your teams. This is because you understand how to break a project up into manageable, well-defined development modules and how to identify the most appropriate resource.

Responsibilities

Web Designers Unite for Innovation Excellence (Global)

Thu, 01/19/2012 - 23:48
A Contest for Web Designers to Benefit the Innovation Excellence Community

ATTENTION web designers of the world.

The Innovation Excellence community needs your help and we've got a prize up for grabs.

http://www.innovationexcellence.com is the world's most popular innovation web site.

Most of the disruptive, square peg in a round hole innovators that visit this site start at the bottom of the site, not the top -- beginning their visit on an article page and then exploring the site from there.

This behavior of course does not surprise us, but we do think that the design of our article pages could be much better to help bottom-up visitors discover more of the great content on the site (3,800+ articles and counting).

So, rather than paying a single designer to fix this problem or using someone else's community to gather input and pick a winner (with the winner getting a little cash and no exposure for their business), we thought we would run our own design challenge to bring much more attention to the best entering web designers. So here goes:

The Reward

1.The Top 10 Entries (by judging) will receive priceless visibility (including linked company name) in a Top 10 Entries article with the winning entry receiving a profile of their business in the article (with multiple links) to a community of 100,000+ monthly visitors

2.Winning Entry will receive a $250 cash prize

3.Winning Entry will also receive a 20-pack of article banners on Innovation Excellence ($400 value)

4.Winning Entry will get a signed copy of the popular book Stoking Your Innovation Bonfire by Braden Kelley

The Challenge

We are Looking for Web Designers all around the world to take a look at our article pages, like this one:

http://www.innovationexcellence.com/blog/2011/08/01/innovation-is-all-about-value/

And provide your design input for how you would change our article page design (in WordPress) to help visitors:
1.Discover more content and spend more productive time on the site
2.Productively visit more pages per visit

The key word you'll notice in both is productive -- we don't want people spending more time finding their way or clicking through unnecessary pages -- we want people to spend more time on the site reading great content and engaging with the community and visiting more pages because they see another article they want to read or another question or comment they want to make.

To have your response judged please make sure you submit:
1.A visualization of your design in a PowerPoint or PDF or PNG format
2.The code to make any widgets, etc. recommended in your design work
3.Anything else not listed required to make your design work

Please EMAIL your entries to the craigslist contact email

We look forward to seeing your submissions and featuring the winners (and the rest of the Top 10)!

PARTICULARS: For a prize to be awarded we must receive at least ten entries by midnight GMT on January 27, 2011 (the deadline for entries). Assuming we get at least ten entries (which we should) then the top ten entries and the winner will be announced no later than midnight GMT on January 31, 2011.

  • Location: Global
  • Compensation: Design Contest - See Description for Details - 1 winner will win $250 plus $400
  • Telecommuting is ok.
  • This is a contract job.
  • Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
  • Please, no phone calls about this job!
  • Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests.

As you can imagine, finding the right person is a tall order. I'm looking for someone with great vision, lots of energy, and fantastic leadership skills, a tech background and experience running a business, and a personality that matches my company's culture. Basically I want Mark Zuckerberg's clone. If you're that person, keep reading.

What I'm looking for:

The ideal candidate is similar to me in many ways but different - and better! - in others. A quick summary of the similarities: you need to have both an entrepreneurial and tech background, understand how to run a small business, and have a blazing desire to succeed. What I need from someone else is vision: you need to be the leader and driver of JangoMail's new phase, and have the foresight, energy, and passion to take the company to the next level of growth.

Here are some of the particular skills and experiences I'm looking for. You should:
1. Have run a software company in the past, preferably software-as-a-service (SaaS).
2. Have been a lead developer on a big software project at one point.
3. Have skills in most areas of running a small software company. This includes motivating and managing team members, recruiting and HR, accounting, online marketing like AdWords/SEO, negotiating, developing and maintaining strong client relationships, and so on.

Here are some less tangible requirements. You need to:
1. Be knowledgeable and passionate about all things software and tech.
2. Be able to conceive and execute a plan for how you'd take JangoMail forward.
3. Be liked by me and the other team members.

This position is a great opportunity for an energetic, driven techie who has skills beyond software development. If hired, you would inherit a profitable company with an amazing team and no big problems to start. If you have the skills and hunger of a great CEO and software developer, the strategic vision to fuel our product growth and our company growth, and the leadership skills to coordinate and guide a unique and highly independent team, this is the opportunity for you.

What your first three months might look like:
First 30 days: Immersion in product and company structure and culture.
You would spend your first month getting to know our products inside and out and learning the overall architecture and codebase that comprises the products. You would also get to know our two developers and our Director of Operations, and learn about the company's operations at a high level, from accounting functions to marketing functions.

Second 30 days: Growth plan and vision.
Working with input from me, you would spend your second month developing a plan for the future. This should be a flexible but comprehensive roadmap, identifying things like what people need to be hired, what new features should be implemented, and what partnerships we should pursue.

Third 30 days: Put the plan in action.
In the third month, I anticipate handing off control to you. You would begin implementing the plans that have been made so far. I would still provide some consultation and feedback, but this would mark the beginning of your tenure as top decision-maker.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: If you're looking for a new CEO, what role will you transition into?
A: I'm not sure yet, but I'll still have involvement in the company. I anticipate that I may stay around in a technical capacity, developing and improving the product, or I might focus on blogging for the company or establishing partnerships. Whatever my role turns out to be, it will be up to you to steer and grow the company.

Q: What will the compensation structure look like?
A: This position will be highly compensated, with a six figure base salary plus a percentage of profits.

Q: Where will the CEO work?
A: From home. We are a virtual company with a small office in Dayton, Ohio. I (the current CEO) live in Chicago, but you can live wherever you want.

Q: If the CEO is remote, how will he/she work with his team?
A: Using remote communication technologies like phone, email, video chat, and IM. Our team is made up of highly motivated and highly independent individuals; it's very important that you're able to coordinate and manage a team like this.

Think you're the one? To apply, email your application to CEO-search at us.jangomail.com (Replace at with an @ sign.) Send your cover letter in the body of the email message, and attach your resume in .rtf format (Rich Text Format). I love detail - the more detail you convey about yourself in your cover letter, the better! I want to know more than just your employment history; I want to get a feel for who you are as a person and what kind of executive you'd be for my company. I also invite you to submit anything you think represents who you are and why you're the CEO I need. That might be a code sample, a list of URLs, design work, an essay describing your leadership style and history, and so on. If you consider it important and valuable to my decision, I encourage you to include it in your application.
